US Pres. Trump: No signs now that China is buying US agricultural products

As markets are waiting for the headlines coming out of the high-level trade talks in China, US President Donald Trump tweeted out that there were no signs of China importing agricultural products from US.

"China is doing very badly, worst year in 27 - was supposed to start buying our agricultural product now - no signs that they are doing so," Trump tweeted out.

"That is the problem with China, they just don’t come through. Our economy has become much larger than the Chinese economy in the last 3 years."

Trump, once again, argued that China could wait for the next election in the US to see if a Democrat candidate wins and makes a deal with them. "The problem with them waiting, however, is that if and when I win, the deal that they get will be much tougher than what we are negotiating now or no deal at all. We have all the cards, our past leaders never got it!"

These comments seem to be weighing on the market sentiment and causing safe-haven assets to gather strength. As of writing, the USD/JPY pair was down 0.26% on the day at 108.48.
